Archie Montemayor is regarded as one of the best professional paintball players of his generation. He was selected as the 2014 PSP League MVP and the 2019 NXL MVP. Archie also earned hardware for Finals in one of X-Factor’s two tournament victories during the team’s 2019 Series Championship run.

He came up in the Texas amateur paintball scene with Team Addicted, one of the most notorious, hard-nosed teams on the circuit, where he was teammates with Dixon Yang. Archie currently resides in Austin, Texas, where he’s a partner in several businesses.

Alex is regarded as one of paintball’s greatest ambassadors. Still active in his 50s, he is the oldest active player on the NXL professional paintball circuit, making occasional appearances for with team, as recently as the 2020 NXL Las Vegas Open.

A former college baseball player, he found paintball later in life through his son’s birthday party. His small team with his son Sean and their neighbors would blossom into San Antonio X-Factor.
Today, Alex owns San Antonio X-Factor and X-Factor Paintball Park, as well as a successful construction company in San Antonio. He served as a mentor and father figure to many of the kids in the BKIT movement, and continues his mission to this day—giving young people in Texas a place to play the sport of paintball at a high level.

2019 NXL Coach of the Year, Ryan Brand originally came up in the Texas paintball scene playing with amateur team B-Slap Factory. After retiring from X-Factor as a player in 2008, he returned to the team as a coach four seasons later. He has coached X-Factor to all but two of their professional wins. Ryan lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and their two kids. He is a partner is a social media agency in Austin, Texas.

Grayson originally came up in the amateur paintball scene in Dallas, Texas, as a member of the team B-Slap Factory, along with Ryan Brand. Since turning pro in 2006, he has spent his entire career with X-Factor and has played more points as a member of X-Factor than any other player in the team’s history. Grayson is currently a day trader in Austin, Texas, where he lives with his wife Ashley.

Mykel started his tournament paintball career on a local San Antonio amateur paintball team named the Mighty Ducks. His best friend, Todd Morrow, left for greener pastures and Mykel quickly followed, joining up with the Cohen brothers and Sean and Alex Martinez to create the core of X-Factor. Kovar would leave and come back a half dozen times over the next 15 years, but not even the lure of playing college football or the pull of the “real world” could keep Kovar from rejoining his best friends on the paintball field.

Originally a product of the legendary amateur team Texas Storm, Dusty Odell was regarded as one the savviest, most instinctive paintball players of his era before retiring in 2012. He played exclusively with San Antonio X-Factor for the entirety of his professional paintball career. Today, Dusty lives in Dallas with his wife and kids. He’s now the owner/ operator of Green Light Distribution.

Growing up in San Antonio, Brett began playing paintball with his brother Ryan at a young age. They formed a team to play in the local tournament with neighbors and one of Ryan’s best friends, Sean Martinez, and his dad, Alex. The team known as Crisis Management would eventually become San Antonio X-Factor and the lightning road for all the Best Kids in Texas to join together. Brett retired shortly after the team’s first pro win in 2007. Today, he works as a real estate professional and helps to manage his family’s sports and entertainment ticket business.

Ryan grew up in San Antonio playing paintball with his brother Brett and his best friend Sean Martinez. Ryan would once famously scoff at reports that his neighbor’s dad could ball, too, saying, “Sean’s Dad is good at paintball? Come on!” Months later, Ryan would find himself competing on the South Texas amateur circuit with “Sean’s Dad” as a member of team Crisis Management. Less than four years later, he would find himself earning wins on the professional paintball circuit alongside his best friends on X-Factor. After retiring professional paintball, Ryan has become an attorney in San Antonio, where he currently resides.

Billy is not from Texas. But he’s one of the best snake players in the world. Billy came up in the Northeast Paintball scene with the New England Hurricanes. When the program folded, Billy bounced around on the professional circuit between teams before finding a home on the reuniting X-Factor squad. Seven years into their “odd couple” experiment, Billy has won five tournament Championships with X-Factor and played more games for the organization than some of the original BKIT members. He continues to needle his teammates about the Cowboy’s lack of NFL success, the greatness of the Patriot way, and why they say “ya’ll” so much.

After a brief stint on the local San Antonio team, the Mighty Ducks, Todd bailed and talked his best friend Mykel Kovar into joining this “new team” starting in San Antonio. Fast forward a decade and Todd had earned a reputation as one of the game’s best Back Players, along with a World Cup and Surf City Open Championship to back it up, before retiring. Todd lives in San Antonio, where for years he could be found working at X-Factor Paintball Park. Today, is professional welder in the San Antonio area.

Jeremy Hazelwood first played paintball in 1993. He eventually came to join the esteemed Texas paintball club Addicted, and took over running a rebooted version of the amateur team in the early 2000s where he ultimately discovered Archie Montemayor and Dixon Yang. Today, Jeremy lives in Dallas with his family and has even begun playing paintball again on occasion with his son.

Ryan Gray first played paintball in the early 1990s, eventually joining the Texas Storm organization. Gray was a well-respected member of the paintball industry for years, working for NPS Texas, Empire, and his own company in Oklahoma, AVID Extreme Sports. Today, Ryan lives in Oklahoma with his wife and kids where he owns Ryan Gray Insurance Agency.
